PROFILE

I was born and raised in Frankfurt, Germany. There I attended a "humanistic gymnasium," a high school emphasizing languages and the arts, and majored in Latin and English. After graduating from high school in 1984, I began my legal studies at the University of Freiburg.

In 1985 I moved to Los Angeles, California, where I enrolled at Occidental College and earned my bachelor's degree in 1988 (B.A. in philosophy, magna cum laude). I then enrolled at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and earned my law degree in 1991 (J.D.). After graduating from law school and passing the California Bar Examination, I joined the litigation department of Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton, a prominent law firm in downtown Los Angeles. My practice as a litigation attorney, which included three jury trials, emphasized intellectual property, unfair competition, and antitrust law.

In 1994 I left the practice of law and started my own translation business. Since then, I have provided translation services to some of the most reputable international law firms in Germany, as well as to several international corporations with operations in Germany. The bulk of my work has involved the translation of transactional documents in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, intellectual property, media law, and labor and employment law.. As a former trial attorney, I have also developed special expertise in the translation of German litigation documents, such as legal briefs and court decisions.

I have been a member of the State Bar of California since 1992.
